The Carnegie Links Experience

Posted: 7 May 2019

More than simply a round of golf on one of Scotland’s most spectacular championship courses, The Carnegie Links Experience offers the opportunity for non-members of The Carnegie Club to enjoy the renowned hospitality of one of the world’s most exclusive private members clubs.

The 18-hole Carnegie Links is 6,833 yards of golfing genius. A true links course, it is surrounded on three sides by water. With fewer than 4,000 rounds played on it each year, the immacualty maintained greens offer golfers a relaxed and enjoyable game with some challenges along the way. For a hole-by-hole flyover, see our website.

As well as your round of golf, ahead of your tee time you will also have access to the Skibo Clubhouse and locker room, and are invited to warm up at the club’s practice facilities before you head out onto the course. To revive you on your round, you will be visited by the Golf Steward’s Cart - stocked with bacon rolls, hot chocolate and a wide selection of snacks and drinks - as it makes its tour of the course each day at 11am, and you can enjoy a rest and refreshment break at the fully-stocked Halfway House, conveniently sandwiched between the 5th and 12th greens, before completing your round. To cap it off,  expect to be congratulated with a tot of Skibo’s exclusive whisky at the 18th.

After your game, return to the Skibo Clubhouse where lunch is served daily between 12 noon and 3pm. With a menu focussed on fresh and locally sourced ingredients, whatever your tastes you are sure to find something to whet your appetite. Tuck into the chilled ice bar - filled with dishes like Peruvian ceviche, oysters in the shell and seasonal salads - before enjoying your next course.

For your second course, choose from classic fare like the Skibo burgers (handmade in-house from three cuts of prime Angus) and pizzas fired to order in the wood-burning Marana Forni oven, or one of the seasonal specials. You might pick from dishes like warm lobster and prawn salad, lamb cutlets with minted pea mash, scorched Bengali chicken with tomato chutney or tempura courgettes and flower heads stuffed with garlic and cream cheese in a tomato ragu.

If you still have room, finish with a delicious desert like banoffee pie, baked raspberry cheesecake, homemade ice cream and sorbet selection or the cheeseboard.

After lunch, you are welcome to take a look around the Skibo Shop before you depart the club with both a complimentary gift bag and memories to last a lifetime!
