About the Role

The Housekeeping department at The Carnegie Club is about much more than simply dusting. It provides our members with the ultimate home-from-home experience through everything from family photos and jars of home-baked shortbread by their bedside, to their preference of duvet or bedsheets. The caring attention to detail of our team makes our members feel unique, valued and eager to return.

Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Head Housekeeper ensures the highest levels of service and hospitality are provided by the team of full time and part-time staff to members and guests through housekeeping, laundry services and in-house floristry.

Responsibilities

As Head Housekeeper, you will oversee the day to day running of the department, with operational support from the shift supervisors. This includes stock control, administration of risk assessments and other relevant health and safety documentation, in-house laundry services and staff management, such as rotas, time management, training and development.

On a daily basis, you will work alongside the team to ensure all assignments are completed, including special tasks in response to guest requests. You will liaise with the Property Management team to ensure maintenance tasks are carried out in a timeous manner and you will keep the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation across the club at all times.

Required Skills & Experience

You are a confident, diligent leader who is skilled at motivating your team to provide the very best in customer service, whilst being hands-on yourself. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work proactively, and you are very organised. Housekeeping is your passion, and you are enthusiastic and approachable.

You have strong computer skills and are comfortable with general administration tasks.

You would be joining a team of fully focused managers who thrive on providing great service with an empathic approach to both team members, club members and guests, as well as those that support us with external services.

Salary

£25,000

Gratuities and the Service Charge

In addition to the base rate of pay, employees of The Carnegie Club also share in gratuities (tips) and the service charge (an additional charge levied on room rates and other services at the Club that is paid directly to staff, similar to a dividend).

Gratuities and the service charge are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role - every member of the team at Skibo contributes to the overall guest experience and is rewarded as such.

The value of gratuities and the service charge varies, but for reference in 2019 full-time staff at the Club received on average around £2,000 in addition to their annual salary. Since then, the service charge rate has increased and so for 2022 this sum is estimated at around £4,000 in addition to their annual salary. Part time staff will receive the service charge as a percentage of the hours they work i.e 20 hours per week would equal 50% of the service charge.
