Night Porter (Relief)

About the Role

Providing the very best service to our members and guests is at the heart of everything we do, and this role is essential in ensuring our high quality customer experience is provided 24/7.  You will work with the Night Supervisor to safeguard the club's security throughout the night, as well as being a point of contact for residents.

Responsibilities

This varied role includes both security and customer focused tasks including switchboard operation, estate patrols and building checks. You will provide residents with hospitality services as and when required, such as room service, late check-ins and early departures, dealing with any requests promptly and professionally. You will prepare both front and back of house areas for the following day, including the cleaning and setting of fireplaces and set up of dining rooms. Overall, you will help to ensure the welfare and safety of all guests and team members who are resident at the club.

Required Skills and Experience

First and foremost, we seek an enthusiastic team player who is focused on providing exceptional customer service. You are discreet, reliable and responsible, and you stay calm under pressure. You enjoy working with others yet can be trusted to carry out tasks unsupervised and make use of your own initiative.

As this role involves driving on the estate, you must have a valid driving licence. Our Night Porters work on a seven-day-on/seven-day-off rota with working hours from 21:30-07:30.

 

Salary

Available upon request, plus a share of service charge and gratuities. 

Gratuities and the Service Charge

In addition to the base rate of pay, employees of The Carnegie Club also share in gratuities (tips) and the service charge (an additional charge levied on room rates and other services at the Club that is paid directly to staff, similar to a dividend).

Gratuities and the service charge are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role - every member of the team at Skibo contributes to the overall guest experience and is rewarded as such.

The value of gratuities and the service charge varies, but for reference in 2019 full-time staff at the Club received on average an additional £150 - £200 per month.
