For members of The Carnegie Club, every stay at Skibo is special whatever the time of year. From spring blossoms to late night rounds on the Carnegie Links on light summer nights, to walks through the woodland on crisp autumn mornings to cosy fireside cocktails in winter, Skibo is spectacular in every season. Throughout the year, however, the club accent the existing array of activities on offer with some special themed events.

SPRING EVENTS

 Skibo Castle in Spring  

Opening Weekend // 2 – 4 March

Join us to welcome in the new season as the club reopens after its annual break with a weekend of art, music and fireworks as well as wonderful food and superior wines, the (in)famous Saturday night ceilidh and – as always – excellent company.

 

Highland Fling // 16 – 18 March

Celebrate all that is great about Scotland with our Highland Fling, a Scottish-themed weekend replete with traditional music, a performace from a Scottish pipe band, ceilidh dancing, whisky tasting, gala dinner and much more. 

 

Health & Wellbeing Weekend // 23 – 25 March

Give your regime a boost with our Health & Wellbeing weekend. Whether you want to unwind and detox your body, stretch your muscles, centre your mind or simply immerse yourself in total indulgence, you will benefit from a few days in the beautiful surroundings of Skibo and attended to by our team of experts.

 

Easter Weekend // 30 March – 2 April 

Children will enjoy a fun-filled programme of activities at the Barn with crafting to stretch creative talents, energetic outdoor activities to wear out excited little legs and Easter-themed merriment including an egg hunt in the Skibo gardens. Hoppy the Bunny will also make his annual appearance at the castle to deliver some chocolate treats to members both young and old. 

 

Early May Bank Holiday // 4 – 7 May 

Spring has sprung, so celebrate with a Garden Party in the Skibo grounds. Lounge on the castle lawn, sip champagne in the Walled Garden, nibble on treats prepared specially by the chefs in the Skibo kitchen and take in the unsurpassed beauty of the Highlands in springtime. 

 

Mini Pro Am // 21 – 24 May 

The annual Skibo Pro-Am is the most popular event in our golfing calendar, and so we are delighted to announce that in 2018 we will introduce the Mini Pro-Am. Expect the same friendly competition and usual Skibo fun as at the regular Pro-Am, just on a slightly smaller scale! 

 

Late May Bank Holiday // 25 – 28 May 

The Children’s Barn will have a fantastic programme of activities to entertain the younger members of the family while adulots will be delighted by a garden party and a selection of glittering jewels care of the club’s special guest, the esteemed House of Garrard.

 

 

SUMMER EVENTS

Three Course Challenge // 18 – 22 June 

Members will play three fantastic courses – Brora, Machrie on the Isle of Islay and Skibo’s own Carnegie Links - over three days of friendly competition. On the final evening you will also partake in the now legendary Skibo Longest Day celebrations with evening entertainment at the Clubhouse. 

 

Skibo Golf Week & Club Championship // 3 – 8 July 

A celebration of the game we call golf, with a clinic to sharpen your skills, demonstrations from our fantastic trick-shot artist Jeremy Dale and the Club Championship to round things off. Not as scary as the title suggests, the Club Championship is a hugely enjoyable and laid-back Stableford tournament, played over two days for players of all abilities.

 

 

AUTUMN EVENTS

The Carnegie Club Pro Am // 10 – 12 September 

The annual Carnegie Club Pro-Am is the most popular event of the Skibo golfing year, drawing some 20 teams of members and their guests to be paired with Professionals from the PGA Tartan Tour. With two days of competition and a lively evening programme – including member favourites the Calcutta auction and gala dinner - this is a must-do event for any of the club’s golfers. 

 

Focus on Equestrian // 24 – 27 September 

Our Focus on Equestrian week has been immensely popular since it began a few years ago, with members given the opportunity to work on their riding technique with world-class experts. This year, members will also enjoy the enhanced facilities of the newly upgraded The Carnegie Club Equestrian Centre. 

 

Focus on Food // 11 – 14 October 

Enjoy an programme of special menus and epicurean events Your tastebuds will be delighted by a champagne and oyster bar, a special seafood-themed menu, artisan ice-cream, chocolate tasting, guest chefs and much more. 

 

The Spirit Kettle // 13 – 14 October

The Carnegie Club take on the team from Nairn Championship Links in our annual competition for the Spirit Kettle. The match is traditionally known more for its friendly rivalry than for serious competition, so even not-so-seasoned golfers will have a great weekend! 

 

Halloween Weekend // 26 – 29 October 

Join us at Skibo for a weekend of frighteningly good fun with pumpkins galore and Halloween-themed décor, a spine-chilling selection of activities to keep the little ones entertained and plenty for grown-ups to enjoy with a fiendish fireworks display and an appearance by our resident house ghost. 

 

Arts, Wine & Music Weekend // 2 – 4 November 

The weekend opens with the launch an exhibiton of noted animal artist Jo Taylor’s work in the Skibo Gallery and includes a performance by Grammy nominated jazz guitarist Martin Taylor as well as night of music under the stars as the Highland Chamber Orchestra. The concert will conclude with a magical fireworks display against the backdrop of Skibo’s dramatic landscape. 

 

Luxury Christmas Shopping // 16 – 18 November 

Join us for a special seasonal shopping weekend and discover some truly exceptional pieces in one of our carefully curated pop-up shops. Showcasing the best in luxury, this event allows you to cross items off your Christmas list in true Skibo style – surrounded by Baronial splendour and with a glass of champagne in hand! 

 

Thanksgiving // 22 November

Each year the club hosts a Thanksgiving celebration here at Skibo, serving up a delicious traditional Thanksgiving menu. Ever popular with our American members, all nationalities are warmly invited to enjoy the day in the sumptuous surroundings of the castle.

 

 

WINTER EVENTS

Skibo Castle in Winter 

Pre-Christmas House Party // 14 – 17 December

Featuring everyone’s favourite elements of our Christmas House Party - including a festive sing-song, a visit from Santa Claus and a traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings - this is a magical weekend ideal for those who want to enjoy a Skibo Christmas ahead of their family celebration at home. 

 

Christmas House Party // 23 – 27 December

Celebrate Christmas at Skibo for a truly special experience. Expect festive entertainment, carol singing, Pantomime high jinks, a visit from Santa, superb food and wine – including mulled wine, eggnog and freshly baked mince pieces - as well as a fun programme of events which will keep the children entertained! 

 

Hogmanay // 30 December – 3 January

Celebrate a traditional Scottish Hogmanay with family and friends here at Skibo Castle. To mark the New Year there will be a sensational gala dinner, fireworks and dancing until the wee small hours.
