Children at Skibo

  • Families are a central part of The Carnegie Club, with children of all ages visiting Skibo throughout the year.
  • The Children’s Barn is the base of all children’s activities, but it only makes up a small part of the fun to be had at Skibo. For our youngest members, the 8,000-acre Highland estate serves as a playground itself, allowing our childcare team to lead personalised, magical experiences both indoor and outdoor and create memories to last a lifetime!
  • Our Children's Barn team works seamlessly with various departments to lead daily supervised activities across our estate for youngsters to enjoy, from bushcraft to baking, painting to canoeing, and swimming to treasure hunts.
  • During school holidays, the Children’s Barn team goes above and beyond to provide a wide array of special events for members and guests to experience as a family.
  • Each evening, babysitting is offered to families, giving parents a chance to relax and enjoy dinner with other members, safe in the knowledge that their little ones are being cared for by our friendly and professional babysitters.

About the Role

  • Working alongside our friendly Children’s Barn team, you’ll provide a safe, stimulating, and secure environment for Skibo’s members’ children.
  • You’ll foster friendly, trusting relationships with their parents/carers and follow the instructions they provide regarding bedtime routines, illnesses, and more.
  • Typically an evening role based in the family's accommodation here on the estate, you’ll typically be asked to supervise youngsters whilst their parents are out for the evening. This may involve supervision of their evening meal, followed by some relaxation time and putting them to bed.
  • Here at the Club we offer themed programmes during school holidays and annual celebrations such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas. You may be asked to escort children to scheduled activities during these events, ensuring they have the most fun and engaging time possible.

Who we are looking for

  • To apply to be a babysitter, you need to be 18 years or older.
  • Your friends would describe you as fun, friendly, and high-energy!
  • You love looking after children and are fully committed to ensuring their happiness and wellbeing.
  • Multitasking is one of your strengths and you’re able to manage more than one child at the same time.
  • You’re trustworthy and have great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You can often be available at short notice, on weekends, and in the evenings as required.
  • Some experience in childcare is essential, particularly in a child minding, nannying, or babysitting environment.
  • Please note that all our childcare positions are subject to PVG membership.
  • On employment, you will undertake training in accordance with all relevant legislation. Additional training will be provided as required.
