Housekeeping at The Carnegie Club

• More than changing sheets and dusting sideboards, the housekeeping team here at Skibo provide members and guests with a comfortable home-from-home experience during their stay.
• There are a variety of daily roles required from this dynamic department in many areas across the estate, from cleaning castle bedrooms and family lodges to polishing the woodwork in the front hall and organising dry cleaning requests.
• Our Housekeeping team plays an integral part in cultivating the home-from-home atmosphere that makes Skibo unique, and our Porters are key to providing the exceptional service that makes our guests' arrival and departure seamless and stress-free.

About the role

• You'll be joining us for the duration of our busy season, from now until the end of September. 

• You'll handle and care for our guests’ luggage both on arrival and departure, delivering the highest levels of customer service.
• Being a Porter at Skibo is about more than carrying luggage, though. You'll help create the Club's welcoming ambience by setting the fireplaces, bring a smile to our members faces by delivering their morning newspaper as well as any parcels and letters addressed to them, and you'll assist your colleagues in Housekeeping behind the scenes by transporting linens, keeping stores in order and handling recycling.
• Alongside your department colleagues, you should be ready to pro-actively respond to any requests from our guests and be willing to go the extra mile to ensure their needs are met. 

Who we are looking for

• You're friendly, enthusiastic and enjoy meeting new people.
• You're able to work unsupervised, are conscientious and dependable, and have the ability to use your initiative.
• You're a team-player and enjoy working alongside colleagues in what can be a fast-paced environment.
• Ideally you've some experience in a venue such as a guest house or hotel, but if not don't worry – our team will be happy to help you with your training.
• You're willing to learn and take direction.
• Essential for this role are clear and legible handwriting, the flexibility to work varying shifts, and a full clean driving license.

About Gratuities and Service Charge

• Gratuities (tips) and service charge (an additional charge added to room rates and other services at the Club that is passed directly to staff) are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role. 
• It is estimated that in 2024, full-time staff can expect to receive around £4,000 in addition to their annual salary.
